Dr. Jo-Anne D. Villar, Director for National Service Training Program (NTSP), and Dr. Arnelie G. Laquidan, Director of the Institute of Agribusiness Management (IABM) were accepted as participants in ‘Levelling-Up Philippine Higher Education Institutions in Agriculture, Fisheries, and Natural Resources (LevelUPHEI AFAR)’ project which is held from October 4 to November 29, 2021 via the SEARCA Online Learning and Virtual Engagements (SOLVE) platform.

Their participation in this training which is under ‘Leadership Development Program for Higher Education Institutions in the Philippines’ (LDP-HEIs) is funded by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) through its International Continuing Professional Education (ICPE) Grants.

As participants, Dr. Villar and Dr. Laquidan are expected to attend in all virtual live sessions; engage in discussions, workshops, and presentations; and complete modules on leadership, issues facing Philippine HEIs, future-proofing graduates, the impact of technology in teaching and learning, and readying for changes in the institution, the labor market, business, industry. 

This training is run by the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) in partnership with The HEAD Foundation (THF).

The limited number of at most 35 participants in this training come from comprehensive universities in the Philippines with a college/faculty of agriculture and members of the State Universities and Colleges-Association of Colleges of Agriculture of the Philippines (SUC-ACAP). (Ayu)
